This gem is definitely going to be added to my products page! An easy frozen meal that is gluten and dairy free. The chicken was delicious, not rubbery like most frozen meals containing chicken. A must try!

The steak is so awesome. You have to TRY it!! Freaking amazing.

News!

This is so exciting! I’ve been gluten-free since July 16th of this year. Almost immediately my symptoms were gone. Well, I went to my regular check up today. The check up I have with the doctor that prescribes my anti depressants, etc. I’ve lost 18 lbs and I talked to him about going off my meds since I am doing so well. He is starting to reduce them slowly and is 100% supportive of my decision based on the information we discussed. I’m THRILLED! I’ve been on anti-depressants for 17 years! I can’t believe this!

What is Gluten?

Many people are starting gluten free diets due to them having an allergy or intolerance for gluten, those who have celiac disease, or those who want to be gluten free for other health reasons.

So what exactly is gluten? 

Gluten is a type of protein found in grains like wheat, barley, rye, spelt, and kamut. Gluten is found in many products.

Who is affected?

An estimated 1 or every 133 Americans suffer from an allergy or intolerance to ingesting gluten.

Differences between an allergy, intolerance, and celiac disease:

Allergy - After ingesting gluten you may experience an allergic reaction such as itchy, watery eyes, runny nose, skin rash, wheezing or diarrhea.

Intolerance - After ingesting gluten you may experience digestive distress, eczema, hives, joint or muscle pain, fatigue, malabsorption of nutrients or headaches.  

Celiac Disease - If you have celiac disease you may experience the above listed symptoms. Individuals with celiac disease have to avoid gluten completely to avoid destroying your small intestine or leading to more serious diseases. 

How to Live Gluten-Free?

Living gluten-free you must be more aware of the foods you eat since so many products contain gluten.

  • You must completely eliminate all foods containing wheat, rye, spelt, kamut and tritcale.  
  • Wheat-free doesn’t mean gluten-free
  • Read all labels carefully
  • Gluten containing grains are used as basic ingredients and as additives in many prepared or processed foods.
  • You must be aware of what ingredients are made of. Reading hydrolyzed vegetable protein on a label may be made from wheat, soy, corn, or a mix of grains.

What are some Gluten-Free Foods?

  • Beans, Legumes
  • Buckwheat and kasha
  • Carob
  • Cheese
  • Coffee & tea
  • Corn products
  • Cream cheese, cottage cheese
  • Eggs
  • Fresh & frozen vegetables 
  • Vegetable juice
  • Fresh fruit & fruit juices
  • Fresh mets and poultry
  • Milk
  • Milet, quinoa, flax, sorghum, and flour
  • Nuts & seeds
  • Rice
  • Soymilk
  • Tapioca
  • Tofu

Be sure to read all labels very carefully. Even though these foods are suppose to be gluten-free some products may contain gluten.

So, I ate some of these and I had an allergic reaction. I’m not sure what it was, maybe the rosemary? My reaction was very similar to my gluten allergy. I’m really baffled. They tasted good though!
